Guelph Home Sales In Line With 10-year Average for August
Guelph Home Sales Report – August. According to statistics provided by the MLS® System of the Guelph and District Association of REALTORS®, home sales numbered 252 units in August 2018. This edged down 3.8% (10 sales) from August 2017 and was just six sales below the 10-year average for August.
On a year-to-date basis, home sales totaled 2,060 units over the first eight months of the year. This was a decrease of 15.7% from the same period in 2017.
“Sales in August were running close to the 10-year average for the month, which is better than earlier this year but still well off the kinds of levels we were seeing back in 2016,” said Kristi Mercier, President of the Guelph and District Association of REALTORS®. “Year-over-year price growth is also picking up again, although most of that just reflects the fact that we are now one year out from last year’s weak patch.”
The MLS® Home Price Index (HPI), tracks price trends far more accurately than is possible using average or median price measures. The overall MLS® HPI benchmark price for Guelph and District in August 2018 was $515,400, up 5.5% compared to the same month in 2017.
