Guelph Home Sales Remain Down Year-Over-Year In May
Sales remained well below year-ago levels in May
According to statistics provided by the MLS® System of the Guelph and District Association of REALTORS®, home sales numbered 303 units in May 2018. This was down 25.9% from May 2017.
On a year-to-date basis, home sales totalled 1,222 units over the first five months of the year. This was down 24.9% from the record seen in 2017.
“Sales remained well below year-ago levels in May,” said Kristi Mercier, President of the Guelph and District Association of REALTORS®. “Despite fewer deals being made at the moment, the market still tight. That is why we are seeing the MLS® HPI trending upward once again, quite sharply in fact.”
The overall MLS® HPI benchmark price for Guelph and District in May 2018 was up 3.8% compared to the same month in 2017.
The MLS® Home Price Index (HPI), tracks price trends far more accurately than is possible using average or median price measures. The overall MLS® HPI benchmark price for Guelph and District in May 2018 was a record $437,900, up 3.8% compared to the same month in 2017.
