Ontario Home Sales Edge Lower In April: CREA

Residential sales activity reported through the MLS® Systems of real estate Boards and Associations in Ontario numbered 24,973 units in April 2017, a decrease of 2.2% from the record a year earlier. This was still the second best month of April on record.


Nationally, home sales activity was down 7.5% from year-ago levels in April 2017.


Provincial year-to-date home sales totalled a record 78,421 units, up 8.9% from the first four months of 2016.


The provincial average price for homes sold in April 2017 was $668,589, rising 24.1% from a year earlier.


The national average price, by comparison, was up 10.4% on a year-over-year basis at $559,317.
